VAT tax increased again from 11% to 15% - Telephone charges and health service charges will be high in Sri Lanka

VAT increment 15% will be affected from 01st November 2016, NBT tax will remain same as 2%. but NBT will newly impose on electricity and telecommunication services.  “VAT will be applicable on cigarettes, liquor, milk powder, electrical appliances and telecommunication services while VAT will also be applicable on healthcare services such as channelling and hospital room charges,” the ministry said.VAT increment 15% will be affected from 01st November 2016, NBT tax will remain same as 2%. but NBT will newly impose on electricity and telecommunication services.

82 goods and services declared VAT free.
