President inspects "Knowledge Park" constructions


His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa made an inspection visit to the construction site of the "Knowledge Park" in Pettah yesterday (6th Aug).
The construction work is being carried out on a 25 acre land which occupied by the former Tripoli Market. The first phase of the construction has been completed covering 12 acres of the land. The project was launched on the directives of Defence and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The complete cost is estimated to be around 7 million US dollars.
The new "Knowledge Park", going be an exclusive setting where all think-tanks, including scientific, technical and mechanical inventors and experts assemble under one roof and brainstorm to invent novel products.
Its purpose is to provide innovative minds be gathered and stimulate such groups to soar to success by generating new products and services that benefits both the community and the nation.
Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weerethunga, Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary of Transport Ministry Mr. Dhammika Perera and Urban Development Authority Chairperson Mr. Nimal Perera accompanied the President during the tour.
